Support for Young People
Education for young people within a peer group setting is a very effective teaching tool for schools and further education institutions. No Limits Trading can work within your teaching establishment to offer learning opportunities for students, using its vast expertise in working with young people covering difficult topics. We can also provide sessions involving the current issues affecting young people.
Subject areas can be tailored to the exact requirements of the school/college, but popular training packages No Limits Trading can deliver are:
-
Girl talk/Boy talk: fun and interactive sessions covering topics such as puberty, consent, healthy relationships and young parenting.
-
Substances: Buzz involves young people in discussions about the risks involved in drinking alcohol or using substances in order to equip them with the information they need to make healthy choices.
-
Keeping safe on line: interactive sessions with tips on how to stay safe when using any online social media
-
LGBTQ: Young people who identify as LGBTQ+ or are unsure often feel isolated and alone with their sexuality or gender identity. We can provide a safe place to discuss their feelings and we can help them decide who they want to tell, what they want to tell them and how best to say it.
-
Anxiety: many young people suffer from confidence or anxiety issues. This can be anything from feeling different, invisible, misunderstood, hearing voices, depressed, struggling to cope, lonely, wanting to hurt yourself, stressed, anxious. Talking these issues through in a small group of peers, facilitated by our experienced therapeutic workers can help.
-
Anger Management: Anger can cause many different symptoms. It might affect how a young person feels physically or mentally, or how they behave. Our non-judgement therapeutic workers support young people as they work through the issues, using various techniques (including positive relationships, breathing exercises and peer support).
-
Exam stress: Tips on staying well both leading up to and during exam sessions.
-
Bereavement: When a young person suffers a bereavement, how it is supported can make a big difference to them so having 1:1 support or small group peer support, lead by someone who knows how to listen and say the right thing is vital.
-
Self harm: Self-harm is a cry for help so being able to talk things through with friendly, welcoming and non- judgemental workers is important. We listen to the young people and help them explore how they're feeling.
-
Knife Crime: We can deliver interactive small or large groups using relevant material which young people are more likely to respond to.
-
Parenting Classes: We have rolled out a "lads to dads" 6 week course to assist young men to develop and better understand their fathering responsibilities.

Training for school staff
The teaching sector is always changing and evolving, meaning staff often need to undertake training to refresh their skills. No Limits Trading offer a wide variety of training specifically tailored to staff within schools and further education, including:
-
LGBTQ+. We help staff to understand what it means to be part of the LGBTQ+ community and how homophobia, transphobia and heterosexism affect LGBTQ+ young people. I found the whole training interesting & informative - Pete. I liked the chance to ask questions in a safe place - Rowena.
-
Substance misuse. Such a wide ranging topic so training can be an introduction or something more indepth depending on your school needs and time available. We can delve into the changing face of substance use, why young people use them, and how to spot the signs. We can also discuss how to minimise risk and brief interventions. (Your training) was well received by my colleagues - your humorous, honest and highly knowledgeable approach went down well. We went away feeling even more informed about what to look out for among our pupils. CB, Winchester College
-
Mental Health. We discuss with staff the issues affecting young people with mental health problems and how to support them.
-
Self-harm. No Limits staff work with Young People who self-harm and thus we can share with you, why young people self-harm, how to spot the signs and how to support anyone who is struggling. My friend suffers from self-harm and now I know how to help them. You have explained it well, it was informative and you have helped us (to help young people).
-
Resilience for NQTs. Teachers receive training on how/what to teach but are not given training around the additional pressures faced by them. Our therapeutic counsellors and wellbeing practitioners can support a group of NQTs or other staff in a small group or 1:1, on a half-termly basis, to encourage staff to stay in their post longer.
-
Safeguarding Training. With over 25 years working with young people, we continually adapt our way of working to cover any safeguarding issues as they arise and always have the safety of any child at the forefront. We can share with you our knowledge and practices so staff are better prepared for their own safety and that of the young people they work with.
-
Youth Mentoring. We show how to facilitate and support the learning and development needs of young people through mentoring whilst promoting the young person's own wellbeing, resilience and achievement. The training was brilliant beacuse it showed me a systematic approach to mentoring - Martin. Most useful bit was assessing a YP's learning style & adapting your approach to suit - Sammy.
-
Conflict Management. We discuss common causes of conflict and trauma and offer strategies to reduce their occurrence.
-
Professional Boundaries. Staff attending this training, feel they have increased their understanding of the importance of boundaries, what action to take if boundaries are not being adhered to, self-awareness and better understanding of their own practices. Extremely interesting & informative. Learnt a lot about different strategies and alternative methods. Presenters knowledge and experience was most useful. Would recommend to others
In fact, almost anything which effects a young person can be delivered to staff during Inset days (full or half days) or twilight sessions, as one off training or part of a rolling programme. We can also provide information sessions to your parents on particular topics identified within your school.
