The Level 1 Certificate in Exploring Youth Work provides the opportunity for learners to gain knowledge and understanding of working within the youth work sector. Learners will gain an understanding of:

• An Introduction to the Youth Work Sector, including legislation and policies related to working with young people
• Communication and Group Work Skills, looking at different communication styles, skills, and working co-operatively
• Delivering a Youth Work Programme details the planning, implementation and evaluation of youth work
• Safe working practices including safeguarding and health & safety
• Self-assessment for Youth Work Practice discusses the contribution to youth work in the community and  plan for further training and/or development
• Working with Young people in the Local Community including Key issues involved in youth work, and possible barriers to participation

This qualification is designed for those learners who are 16+ and are interested in working with young people in a paid or in a volunteering capacity.

The Level 2 Award in Mental Health Awareness provides the opportunity for learners to gain knowledge and understanding of the subject of mental health. Learners will achieve:

• a better understanding of the concept of mental illness, the support available as well as basic resilience strategies for themselves.

This is a new course designed in 2021 and we have successfully run the course for 12 participants this year. It is aimed for those learners who are 16+.

The Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles supports the skills and knowledge learners need to become a competent Assistant Youth Support Worker. Learners will gain an understanding of:

• The key purpose and role of youth work including the skills, knowledge, qualities and values required to practice
• Safeguarding in a youth work setting, including how to protect young people when using contemporary technologies
• Young people's development and how youth work can support young people during adolescence
• Working with challenging behaviour

This qualification is designed for people who are already working in a youth work environment (public, voluntary or private sector, paid or unpaid) in an assisting or supportive role and who are supervised. The Award and the Certificate are suitable for those who are 14+, and who may have limited experience of youth work and want an access route to a qualification.

The Level 3 Certificate in Youth Work Practice supports the skills and knowledge learners need to become a competent Youth Support Worker. Learners will gain an understanding of:

• The values, core principles and current policies relating to youth work
• Intervention strategies in youth work settings
• The principles, knowledge and skills needed for work-based practice

This qualification is designed for people who are already working in a youth work environment (public, voluntary or private sector, paid or unpaid) and who deliver operational youth work; undertake duties on their own initiative and who may carry supervisory responsibility for small projects. The Certificate are suitable for those who are 16+, and have some experience of youth work.

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training includes:

• the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training,
• facilitate learning and development for groups,
• understanding assessment in education and training.

It is designed for anyone with a qualification or experience in any field who would like to train or teach adults.
